Jo-Carroll Energy is acting applications for its scholarship program in 2020. Up to $25,000 in scholarships will be awarded to students from JCE’s service territory.
Scholarships are available in five categories including:
JCE Scholarships – Up to six $1,000 scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors whose parents or guardians are JCE members. Two scholarships are awarded in both Jo Daviess and Carroll counties and one each in Whiteside and Henry counties.
Two-year/Technical School Scholarships – Up to four $1,000 scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors who plan to attend a two-year college or technical school and whose parents or guardians are JCE members. One scholarship each is awarded in Jo Daviess, Carroll, Whiteside and Henry counties.
Lineworker Scholarship – Up to two Lineworker Scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each are awarded to students who plan to attend a lineworker school. Applicants or their parents must be cooperative members. Scholarships are paid directly to the lineworker school.
Adult Student Scholarship -Up to four Adult Student Scholarships in the amount of $1,500 each are awarded to applicants who are current JCE members in good standing, have been accepted to an accredited post-secondary school or program leading to their first degree, certification or licensure. One scholarship can be awarded in each of the counties in the co-op’s service territory.
Deadline for all of these scholarships is March 2.
The fifth category is the Director’s Scholarships. These scholarships in the amount of $500 each are awarded by drawings at JCE’s annual meeting, set for June 10 at River Ridge Community School. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors whose parents or guardians are members of the cooperative. The applicant and at least one parent or guardian must attend the annual meeting. One scholarship is awarded per board director district; if no applications are received from a district, an at-large drawing will be conducted following all other district drawings. Deadline for this scholarship is May 1.
