2025 Two-Year Technical Scholarship Application

Up to four JCE Co-op Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded in 2025. The scholarships are for one year and are nonrenewable.

Applicant Requirements
-Applicants must be a high school senior.
-Applicants’ parent/legal guardian must be a cooperative member with their primary residence or business served by the cooperative.
-Immediate family of employees/directors may apply.
-Recipients must begin undergraduate studies within a year of being notified they have won.
-Recipients are expected to be “full time” students.

Application Process
-Applicants must submit the following materials:
-Completed application form.
-Two letters of reference, one from a teacher or other school personnel and one from a community member who is familiar with the student.
-Brief biographical statement with emphasis on the student’s citizenship, leadership, career goals and how the scholarship would help them achieve those goals.
-Short essay (500 words) demonstrating knowledge of the cooperative and its value to its members and communities.

Selection and Award
-One scholarship will be awarded to students in each of Jo Daviess, Carroll, Whiteside and Henry counties.
-Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee including JCE Co-op employees.
-Scholarship winners will be invited to attend the JCE Co-op Annual Meeting for recognition.
-Scholarships will be paid directly to the student, with payment distributed after the recipient has provided proof of enrollment.
-Scholarships may be used for education costs at any accredited two-year college or accredited technical school.

The state-ment should include your educational and career goals and how this scholarship would help you achieve those goals, and other pertinent information about yourself that you feel is important. The biographical statement should be typewritten, double-spaced and attached to the application.

Submit an essay of 500 words or less demonstrating your knowledge of electric/natural gas cooperatives and the value of the cooperative to its members and community. The essay should be typewritten, dou-ble-spaced and attached to the application.
